This figure is Ho Tai, known as The Happy Buddha. Ho Tai was a monk who had studied Buddhism. He was able to reach the awake state as did the Buddha. Once he attained this state of consciousness he traveled throughout China spreading the word that we too may be awake as the Buddha. He is known as the Buddha of Wealth and a protector of children. I have one in my living room that has children climbing all over the gregarious Ho Tai. Let this Ho Tai represent the possibility of the Buddha awakening within you.
